# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • It takes barely ten minutes total, making it perfect for mornings when you want something special without the fuss.
  • The roasted flavor is naturally comforting without any bitterness, so even tea skeptics tend to ask for the recipe.
  • It works beautifully with any milk you have on hand, making it genuinely accommodating for different diets.
02 -
  • Don't use boiling water directly on hojicha—it'll taste bitter and flat, and you'll be confused about what all the fuss is about.
  • The maple syrup absolutely must dissolve in the warm tea; trying to stir it into cold hojicha results in sticky puddles at the bottom that no amount of stirring fixes.
03 -
  • Buy hojicha from a source where you can smell it first—quality varies, and the best stuff has a rich, almost chocolate-like depth underneath the roast.
  • If you're making this for multiple people, brew a bigger batch of hojicha and refrigerate it, then assemble individual drinks as people request them.
