04 - Green gel or oil-based food coloring
05 - Green sprinkles, edible glitter, or gold sugar for garnish

# How To Make:

01 - Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
02 - Pulse Oreo cookies in a food processor into fine crumbs.
03 - Add softened cream cheese to the cookie crumbs and blend until fully combined and smooth.
04 - Scoop heaping tablespoons of mixture and roll into 1-inch balls. Place on prepared baking sheet.
05 - Freeze truffle balls for at least 45 minutes until firm.
06 - Melt white chocolate or candy melts in microwave-safe bowl using 30-second intervals, stirring between each until smooth.
07 - Add green food coloring to melted chocolate and mix until desired shade is achieved.
08 - Using a fork or dipping tool, dip each truffle ball into green chocolate, allowing excess to drip off. Return to parchment-lined sheet.
09 - Top with green sprinkles or edible glitter while chocolate is still wet.
10 - Allow coating to set at room temperature or refrigerate for 15 to 20 minutes until firm.
11 - Transfer cooled truffle balls to an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to serve.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • They taste like a fancy bakery treat but come together in your kitchen without any baking or real cooking involved.
  • The green coating makes them look intentional and celebratory, even though you're basically decorating store-bought cookies.
  • You can make them days ahead and stash them in the fridge, which means less stress when guests arrive.
02 -
  • Frozen truffle centers are non-negotiable—dipping them while they're still rock-solid prevents the Oreo mixture from leaking into your chocolate coating and creating a mess.
  • Water-based food coloring will make white chocolate seize into a grainy disaster, so gel or oil-based coloring is the only way to go; I learned this the hard way on my first attempt.
03 -
  • Use a candy dipping fork or even a regular fork to dip your truffles—it distributes the chocolate evenly and prevents you from fishing around in the coating bowl with your fingers.
  • If your chocolate coating starts to thicken as it cools, microwave it for another 10 seconds to loosen it back up; perfect dipping chocolate should flow like thick sauce.
